About TOEFL

TOEFL (The Test of English as a Foreign Language ) aims to evaluate the English proficiency of people whose native language is not English. TOEFL scores are required for purposes of admission by colleges and universities mostly in the United States and Canada. But this test is also used by institutions in other countries where English is the language of instruction. It is offered year round as a computer adaptive test. TOEFL scores are valid for two years after the test date. This test gives you more choices of where you want to study, gives you skills which will be useful in communicating both in real life and academically. It is fair and accurate. Moreover it is very flexible .You can retake the test in 7 days if you want to increase your score.

TOEFL test takers can choose from internet based test (iBT) or paper based test (PBT).The TOEFL iBT measures how well you read, listen, speak and write in English and use these skills together in the university classroom. For example a student might listen to some lecture or read a passage then he can either write or speak about it. But the TOEFL Paper-based Test (PBT) measures how well you read, listen and write in English.

TOEFL test is not hard but a lot of practice is required. So I suggest you sit for a mock test and then you will know where you stand and how much hard work is needed. They have a minimum score to pass. Read lot of books and solve as much as possible the sample papers which are available easily in the market and on internet. There are a lot of training schools who will prepare you for this type of test. This test is not difficult but the students are scared and loose hope if they cannot pass in one time. So do not feel disheartened and keep on trying and keep your spirits high.

I hope this information will be helpful.

Cheers
